9/11 Memorial Road Trip

Freedom Tower
Joined the South Shore Camera Club on a "Road Trip", via a hired bus coach, to the 9/11 Memorial in New York City.  We left at 7:00 a.m., made one stop along the way and arrived in the City just about noon.  Having about three hours before we were scheduled as a group to visit the Memorial, my friend, Susan and I took advantage of the free Staten Island Ferry, visited Trinity Church, St. Paul's Church, and stopped for ice cream from a street vendor.
South Tower Pool

North Tower Pool
The 9/11 Memorial, in my humble opinion, is a beautiful and fitting tribute to all those who lost their lives on that horrific date.  The two pools sit on the footprints of the North and South Towers.   The "Freedom Tower", which will stand 1776 feet when completed, is just about done, and there are five additional buildings which are in various stages of construction.  The "infinity" pools are peaceful and soothing, yet one cannot forget the lives lost as their names are etched all along the rim of both pools.  Nor should we ever forget.
